Warringah Council released its draft Warringah Housing Strategy which directly reflects the community's wishes, expressed during the 2010 Talk of the Town (TOTT) summit.
The draft Warringah Housing Strategy recommended that sections of Narraweena be rezoned to permit medium density housing allowing for an extra 3,675 dwellings over the next 20 years. Another 5,325 dwellings will be located within areas throughout Warringah already zoned to accommodate them.
An explanatory letter, outlining the proposed changes, was sent to all affected residents plus anyone who has previously notified Council that they wish to be sent updates on the housing strategy.
Public Information Sessions were planned to be held in Narraweena in July 2011. The draft Housing Strategy will be placed on public exhibition in early July, after which the public can make formal submissions.
Anyone with questions or comments can call Warringah Council's Housing Hotline on 9942 2000.
