View of Narrabeen Lagoon

Narrabeen Lagoon, the largest of Warringah’s four coastal lagoons, is one of the northern beaches greatest natural assets. Visited by over 1,000 people a day the lagoon showcases a fragile and diverse aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem. The waterbody covers 2km2 and its 55km2 catchment acts as a wildlife habitat refuge and nursery.

Warringah Council, as a corporation, has been appointed reserve trust manager of Narrabeen Lagoon by the Minister administering the Crown Lands Act 1989. As reserve trust manager, Warringah Council is responsible for the care, control and management of Narrabeen lagoon.

Warringah Council has worked closely with the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) (formerly Land and Property Management Authority) and the Community to develop a Draft Plan of Management for Narrabeen Lagoon (the “Draft Plan”).
